Currently we are learning about life in the city, post western migration. City life was very diffrent from life out in the country. Many of these diffrences were because the ways of life were made by factory work, not farming. Also housing was diffrent, and many inventions started durning this time period.

To start, farming was no longer the means of living. People who lived in the city work in facctories, or mills. The work was hard, and the pay was little. This is because many were not sucessful in farming so they all had to move to the city. Also there were many immigrants who migrated to the cities. There for workers were easily found. Low wages and harsh conditions were common in this time period.

Living in the city was also very diffrent from life on the farm. Many lived in row houses and had no land at all. Many families were forced to live in one home due to high costs of rent.

Also this time period many new inventions came about. For one electric power. with this imvention every day life was changed. With this things such as electric tosters, washers, irons were invented.

In all City life was very important, and diffrent from life on the farms. from the way of living to the inventions used all were diffrent.

Mariah!
Many people were not succesful in farming which caused them to move to the city.Though the city, probably sounds better it was very horrible. There were alot of hardships within working in factories and living in row houses. Atleast if they were still farming, they would have had a lot of land.I'm so thankful I didnt have to go throught what they did.

hey, not bad. I like your blog even though it is pretty short. Well during the western migration, there were people who moved towards the East to work in the factory when things weren't working out in the West. Mostly, the mining workers and farmers who couldn't afford to stay where they were in the West. For the mining workers, there wasn't alot of silver left to dig and the companies would relocate to another place and abandoned the mining industry in the West. I couldn't believe that alot of people had to move East and work in the factories where they had to ensure hardships for very little pay. We all should be thankful that we weren't alive during this time so we wouldn't have to face all the hardships just to make a living.

Nice blog. I agree with Jazmyn...not many farmers were successful at farming. They really went through alot hardships such as bad weathering, debts, poor harvests, and alot labor with little pay. Farmers were the ones that suffered the most from moving West for 'new life'. I agree...city life was horrible in the West during the Westward migration. Overall, -- nicely put-- you should add more details to your explanations.

This was a very good blog. I learned that people worked in bad working condition for low wages. The invention of electricity that is mentioned is possibility of one the greatest invention in 20th century. Since today billions depend on electricity to be able to do their tasks efficiently. I wish you would have given more details on the inventions during that time period

Good blog. I like how you explained that tough farm life caused many people to move to the city. Even though there were many bad things about it, people had many more opportunities there.

Finally! Some one who didn't talk about western migration! Your right about it being different in the cities. A litle short though. You need to work on expanding your ideas and sentences.

Hey nice blog Mariah. It sounds like being a farmer was a lot of hard work.to not be very successful at farming seemed to push people toward city life
