3-western migration

Currently we are learning about western migration and all of its ups and downs. Western migragtion took place before the Civil War. This time period was very hard and many people struggled a lot. Exspecailly Native Americans who were continiously kicked off of thier land.

Western Migration was when people who lived in the eastern coast traveld west for land, money, or freedom. Many traveld west for money. In 1849 there was a gold rush. Many people migrated to CA to capture all of this gold. Well it turned out, there wasn't as much as everyone thought. There also was a silver rush. But many did not find silver for they did not know what it looked like before being cleaned, so once agian it didn't hit they way every one expected.

Many also moved west and became homesteaders. They bought plots of land for so much money, and had to farm and live on it for five years. After that time period, it was thiers to keep. The problem here was the plots of land often wasn't enough for farmers to feed their family and make a profit. so many familys would have to team up and work together. Also the west was very dry and hard to farm.

Moving west was also hard because of Native Americans. They often would attack migraters along the way. Native Americans were moved out of their land and forced on to other land that the goverment allowed them to have. This made them very mad. Also there are many mountians, rivers, deserts, and along the western way. This made it hard for people to migrate west.

Western Migration was not very easy. Land conditions were harsh and dry. Money was tight, and hard to find. Also there were many natives that didn't like western settlers.
